Airport Hire Car - How To Find Discounts

Before landing at your destination airport it’s always a good idea to have done research on airport hire car before arriving. Car rental companies are notorious for taking advantage of unprepared travelers who don’t have prior reservations. You won’t get the best rates & you could end up getting charged more than twice others are being charged for the same car etc.

The easiest way to find out what deals are available is to just walk from counter to counter at the airport. Of course not all airports are designed the same way so if you happen to be in an airport where all the car rental companies are off site you might not find the great deal you were hoping for.

Before getting on one of those shuttles to drive you to a far away rental counter use your PDA to check some deals before choosing what shuttle bus to jump on. A quick internet search can save you considerable money.

If you don’t have a membership card with one of the larger rental companies no problem. Some companies are still willing to give you some decent upgrades. Something as simple an upgrade to a larger car can be worth a wait in line or even getting a GPS system which is almost a necessity when it comes to finding your way around new cities. Even having the option of a free upgrade to a car with an automatic transmission can turn any vacation into pure heaven if you can’t drive a stick shift & that was all they had to give you

Most companies offer free mileage but be careful this is not standard in many countries. Don’t drive off thinking you got a great deal & then find out when you return the car a week later that you owe hundreds more than you had planned on.

Also don’t fall into the insurance coverage trap. Rental agents are trained with some hard sell techniques because rental companies make a small fortune on the huge mark ups on these products. Don’t let someone pressure you into coverage you don’t need. Call your own insurance company before buying coverage you don’t need.

Finally check your car over really well before getting in. Some companies are very good about charting any prior damage to the car that hasn’t been fixed yet. If there are pre-existing scratches etc. make sure the company documents all the damage before you drive away. You don’t want to get stuck paying for dents that weren’t you fault.

Many travelers choose to hire a car when they arrive at their destination unfortunately without making arrangements ahead of time resulting in overcharging. Upon arrival check out the airport hire car options you have. More information on http://www.airporthirecar.net
