As Cheap as a DVD, a New Bed is Worth It!

Getting a new bed can be a bit of a blow on the old pocket book. Quality mattresses tend to go for around $2000 for a queen size & this can be a good chunk of change when the time comes due. But on the grand scheme of things it really one of the most economic investments when it comes to increasing your quality of life.

It is important to try to break item economics down on a per unit basis in order to compare apples to apples & assess the comparison value. For example you might want to know how much per wear per day or per hour. Food costs for a family can be valued at approximately $10 per day for an adult. Clothing is also broken down well using this method. A nice suit which costs around $1200 might end up at $12 per use if you can find a way to wear it 100 times. Depending on how much you use something & what it might actually benefit you in the long run buying a $1200 suit might not be worth it. Of course everything around you can be valued in a similar way.

A mattress is something you will spend a great deal of time on. With Americans averaging around 7 hours per night over a ten year period a mattress will see around 25,000 hours of use per inhabitant. Considering the mattress costs $2000; that would be approximately $0.08 per combined hour or around $0.50 per night. For the improvement in sleep quality for that price it surprising why more people aren’t buying beds that meet their needs.

Most of the time an upfront blow that a new mattress might cost can be processed on a payment plan from most mattress retailers. Some of us don’t have adequate credit however & it can be a bit more challenging to find the money to get into a new bed up front. However the difference between a quality mattress & one that requires replacement is like comparing a Chevette to a Ferrari. Not only is it capable of getting to better sleeps it also much more enjoyable to roll around in. It is likely even better for your relationships.

There isn’t too much that you can get for a quarter these days. However it surprising that a good sleep is one of them. Good luck
