There are actually 4 different sectors in the full CompTIA A+ syllabus but you’re just required to achieve pass marks in 2 for your A+ qualification. Beware of putting too much emphasis as can often be the case on the training process. You’re not training for the sake of training; this is about gaining commercial employment. Focus on the end-goal.

It’s possible in some situations to obtain tremendous satisfaction from a year of studying only to end up putting 20 long years into a tiresome job role as a consequence of not performing the correct level of soul-searching at the beginning.

Make sure you investigate your leanings around career progression & earning potential plus your level of ambition. You need to know what if any sacrifices you’ll need to make for a particular role what accreditations are needed & how to develop your experience.

The best advice for students is to talk with a skilled advisor before deciding on their retraining program. This is required to ensure it has the required elements for the chosen career path.

‘In-Centre’ days get touted as a great feature by many training schools. If you talk to many IT hopefuls who have used them you’ll likely realise that they’ve now become a major problem as they hadn’t properly considered the following:

* Loads of travelling multiple visits & quite often over 100 miles a pop.

* Workshop accessibility; often weekdays only & sometimes two to three days together. It’s not easy to get the days away from work.

* If we’ve got 4 weeks holiday each year giving half of them to educational events often means losing out on family & vacation time.

* Workshops typically get way too big.

* Often tension develops inside the classroom where students want to progress at their own pace.

* Rising travel prices driving backwards & forwards to the training centre & of course accommodation over-night can cost a lot every time you have to go. With only 5-10 classes at a cost of 35 pounds for a single over-night room plus 40 pounds petrol & food at 15.00 we find an extra four to nine hundred pounds of hidden costs that we now have to fund.

* We all enjoy our privacy. We should never risk losing any advancement that could awarded to us because our employer knows we’re retraining.

* It’s not unusual to avoid posing questions in a class full of our fellow attendees because none of us wants to look like we don’t understand.

* There are those of us who on occasion live away for part of the week consider the added problems of making the requisite days in-centre as time is now more scarce than ever.

Wouldn’t it be better to watch a video & study with instructors one-to-one in pre-filmed modules doing them at your convenience not somebody else’s.

Any time you get a problem utilise the 24×7 Support that should come with any technical program. Remember if you’ve got a laptop you can study just about anywhere.

There’s no need to take notes all the lessons & background info are laid out on a plate. Any time you want to repeat something just go for it.
